James was
born in 1959, in De Kalb Illinois. His mother began to teach him to draw at an
early age with line drawings and cartoon characters. James would copy, modify
and soon was creating his art from original ideas.
The family moved to Kentucky in 1973. He was a student of Mercer County High School were he excelled in art and shop studies. The years since have been spent striving for something more and never really finding it.. One day he realized he already had it, a higher power had been at work all through his checkered past and had brought him to understand that he did believe in that higher power. The thought came to him that all he had to do was be at ease with himself and do the next right thing and let God take care of the rest. He believes, "Art is a way to rise above the daily life, to achieve something higher through imagination. After all, imagination in Gods hands created the entire universe."
While exhibiting his work at the Franklin County Expo, James met his future wife Brenda. Married in January 1998, the Browns reside in Lawrenceburg Kentucky. James has sold work at local fairs and expos and had shows in the central Kentucky area. This web site is his currant way to market his work and he has also done cover art for Avatar Press. Most recently he has begun custom air brush painting on autos, motorcycles and trucks. In the past years his work has been reviewed by Boris Valejo and Julie Bell with favorable response. During the last five years James has sold work to customers in over 31 states. He also has international customers in Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, England and Australia.
